Brachers act for sellers of Romney Bay House Hotel in Littlestone, New Romney

In this latest Kent deal, Maidstone and Canterbury based law firm Brachers has advised on the sale of Romney Bay House Hotel in Littlestone, New Romney.

Built in 1929 by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis CBE and situated on a picturesque stretch of coastline facing the English Channel, the hotel has a long and rich history, having previously welcomed guests including Noel Coward and the Astor family.

Brachers acted for sellers Lisa and Clinton Lovell, who have owned and personally run the hotel since 2003, and now plan to retire. The buyer is a prominent private investor with a large portfolio, who has plans to significantly renovate the property into a luxury hotel.

This deal was referred to the firm by Andrew Moore, director of business property advisers Christie & Co, with Commercial Property Senior Associate Katherine Morgan leading on all elements of the transaction for the Lovells.

Katherine Morgan said: “It was a pleasure to support Lisa and Clinton with the successful sale of this historic hotel which was very personal to them, and we wish them all the best for a very happy retirement.”

Andrew Moore commented: “I would like to thank Katherine for all her hard work on this latest property deal, and for ensuring the sale progressed quickly and efficiently for all parties involved.”

This is the latest in a number of recent Kent-based deals for the firm. Other recent transactions include representing a local family run business in acquiring the King’s Head pub in Sutton Valence, Maidstone, and advising on two back-to-back high value transactions for Turkish owned international distribution and logistics operation, IKRA, who plan to use their new Ashford base as a central UK distribution hub for their business.
